PFIPC: Fake DG seeks Rep hearing, alleges wider government links

Adeniyi Adeyemi, the detained self-styled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, has asked to appear before the House of Representatives committee investigating the alleged fake agency.

Through his lawyers, Adeyemi argued that he should be given the opportunity to present his account, describing it as part of his constitutional right to fair hearing.

The defence also alleged that several federal ministries, departments and agencies interacted with the council during its operations.

The House committee is investigating how the council operated and whether government or public institutions played any role in its activities. The outcome of the inquiry is expected to shape further legislative and law enforcement actions into the alleged fake government agency.
