The House of Representatives Committee on Works has expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on section one of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway. Chairman of the committee, Akin Alabi, gave the commendation on Monday during an inspection of the ongoing construction.

Alabi praised the federal ministry of works and the contractor, HITECH Construction Company, for prudent use of allocated funds and assured that the National Assembly would consider additional support if needed. He said parliament would act based on transparency and performance, citing backing from the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.

The federal controller of works in Lagos, Olukorede Kesha, welcomed the lawmakers’ independent assessment and explained the complexities of building through swampy terrain, which requires time for soil consolidation to ensure long-lasting infrastructure.

While welcoming the delegation, HITECH’s managing director, Dany Abboud, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to meeting federal standards.
