The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed it is now reviewing 122 applications from associations seeking political party status.
INEC said it received 12 fresh applications as of 2nd July, up from 110 disclosed in an earlier update on 23rd June.

While stressing that the registration process remains open, transparent, and impartial, with regular updates to be provided to the public, the commission also revealed it had observed internal changes within some associations, including leadership reshuffles. In one instance, an interim secretary was replaced following defection to another group.
INEC has urged all applicants to maintain consistent leadership structures and accurate contact details, warning that instability or miscommunication could delay the registration process.
No timeline has been given for when approvals might be concluded.
