Iran’s football federation says the United States has withdrawn its allocation of tickets for the country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup group matches, preventing the federation from distributing tickets to supporters through official channels.
In a statement on Tuesday, the federation said FIFA regulations entitle participating nations to receive eight percent of tickets for each match. It said ticket sales had already begun for Iran’s group games against New Zealand, Belgium and Egypt before the allocation was revoked.
The federation described the move as contrary to the principles of fairness and equality in international sport and called on FIFA and tournament organisers to ensure Iranian supporters can attend the matches.

The dispute comes amid wider tensions between Tehran and Washington. Iran has also complained that visa issues have prevented some members of its World Cup delegation from entering the United States. Neither FIFA nor US organisers had publicly responded to the allegations as of Tuesday.
