At least nine Palestinians were killed on Sunday in Israeli shelling and gunfire across southern and central Gaza, according to local reports. Six died near an aid centre northwest of Rafah, while two others were killed in an airstrike on a home south of Nuseirat.
Gaza’s Health Ministry reported 48 deaths in between Saturday and Sunday, pushing the overall toll to 55,959 since October.
The violence followed the recovery of three Israeli hostages—two civilians and one soldier—whose bodies were found in Gaza. Israeli officials say they were killed on 7 October 2023, the day hostilities began.
Aid efforts remain overwhelmed. The US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation admitted it cannot meet demand. UN agencies have refused to engage, citing concerns over military influence.
Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces raided 15 villages, arresting 13 and seizing weapons as part of their sweeping “Iron Wall” campaign around Nablus and Jenin.
