Elite Italian fencing coach Riccardo Bardine will arrive in Lagos this June as part of a four-year partnership between the Nigerian Fencing Federation and the Italian Fencing Federation.
Bardine will conduct a two-week training camp for Nigerian fencers and coaches, before leading Team Nigeria’s technical crew at the 2025 African Senior Fencing Championships in Lagos.

The collaboration, signed in December 2024, aims to boost Nigeria’s fencing performance through technical support and knowledge exchange, with Bardine’s deployment as a central feature.
NFF President Adeyinka Samuel said the initiative highlights the Federation’s commitment to developing the sport locally and ultimately qualifying for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
