Lagos State is set to commission a major Central Food Systems and Logistics Hub in Epe as part of efforts to strengthen its estimated ₦14 trillion food economy.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, made the disclosure during a ministerial briefing marking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office.
The facility, designed to handle over 1,500 40-metric-tonne trucks daily, will serve as a central point for food aggregation, storage, processing, and distribution. Officials say it is being built with a focus on digital integration and data-driven operations to modernise the supply chain from farm to market.

Once completed, the hub is expected to be the largest of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, offering a scalable solution to Lagos’s food security and logistics challenges.
The state government sees the project as a cornerstone of its broader strategy to transform the agricultural value chain and curb post-harvest losses.
