Lagos Moves to Tame Lekki-Epe Gridlock with E-Call-Up System

The Lagos State Government is set to enforce an electronic call-up system for articulated trucks operating along the Lekki-Epe corridor, as traffic volumes continue to rise in the area.

Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced that enforcement begins Monday, June 16, with the aim of curbing congestion driven by industrial expansion.

The Lekki-Epe axis now hosts critical infrastructure, including the Dangote Refinery and Lekki Deep Sea Port. With only one major exit route, traffic has become increasingly chaotic.

Current truck movement stands at about 400 vehicles daily but could soar to 4,000 once the Dangote Refinery becomes fully operational.

The e-call-up system will introduce scheduled access, reducing illegal parking and protecting road infrastructure.

Mr Osiyemi described the initiative as a strategic intervention in modernising transport logistics in Lagos and urged industry stakeholders to comply voluntarily for the greater good of the region.
