The Lagos State Government has temporarily lifted BRT lane restrictions along Eko Bridge and Odo Iya-Alaro to reduce traffic caused by ongoing repairs on the Ogudu-Ifako Bridge.
Transport Adviser Sola Giwa described the move as a strategic response to ease commuter hardship and manage expected congestion from the partial closure of the Third Mainland Bridge corridor.
Private vehicles can now use the BRT lanes during peak hours, though commercial and articulated vehicles must continue to follow existing safety rules.

Traffic officials have been deployed to ensure order and prevent misuse of the temporary suspension.
Giwa said the measure aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus agenda, aimed at improving urban mobility and road infrastructure.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has pledged full operational support to monitor flow and enforce compliance throughout the affected routes.
