Lagos Unveils 110-Day Repairs on Oworonshoki–Third Axial Bridge

The Lagos State Government is set to begin a major 110-day emergency repair scheme on the Oworonshoki–Third Axial Bridge, commencing Tuesday 6 May and concluding on Tuesday 23 September 2025.

The programme, announced by the Ministry of Transportation, will unfold in eight carefully planned phases. The first four stages will focus on the inbound section of the bridge leading towards the 3rd Mainland Bridge, running until mid-July. The latter phases will address the outbound stretch from 15 July to completion in late September.

In anticipation of heavy disruption, a detailed traffic diversion plan has been introduced. Motorists travelling via Oworonshoki to Oshodi or Victoria Island will be redirected approximately 50 metres before the affected zone and rejoin their route 50 metres beyond it.

Alternatives have been outlined for drivers approaching from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Mowe, Ikeja and Victoria Island. Key routes include Ojota Slip Road, Anthony-Oshodi axis, Funsho Williams Avenue and Eko Bridge.

Traffic management officers will be stationed across strategic points, as authorities aim to minimise gridlock and ensure steady movement throughout the works.
