MTN Group has won Nigerian regulatory approval for its $2.2 billion acquisition of its remaining stake in IHS Towers.
The approval comes with a condition: MTN must sell thirty percent of the Nigerian tower business to local investors, at market prices, over time. This prevents MTN from fully controlling infrastructure shared with rival networks.
The wider deal values IHS Towers at $6.2 billion. MTN expects the transaction to close in the second half of 2026, pending other approvals.
