The National Broadcasting Commission says it will amend its broadcasting code to address emerging challenges in Nigeria’s media ecosystem, including the impact of artificial intelligence tools. The Commission’s Director General, Charles Ebuebu, disclosed this in Lagos during a press conference to announce ‘Africast 2025’, themed “Navigating the Digital Surge: Building a Resilient African Media Ecosystem for the Future.”
Mr Ebuebu said the initiative is aimed at fostering inclusivity, improving media regulation, and supporting emerging creators and advertisers in adapting to the rapidly evolving digital landscape. He noted that the upcoming Africast event would provide a platform for experts to review existing policies and promote fairness across Nigeria’s broadcast industry.

Africast 2025 is scheduled to take place from the 20th to the 24th of October in Lagos, with up to 3,000 global participants expected. Activities will include a wellness session for international guests, a Lagos Blueline railway tour, a grand opening gala, and a star-studded closing event.
