Nigeria Draw Guinea-Bissau, Tanzania, Madagascar in AFCON 2027 Qualifiers

Nigeria have been drawn against Guinea-Bissau, Tanzania and Madagascar in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The draw was held in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday, placing the Super Eagles in Group L of the qualification series for the continental tournament.

The fixtures pit Nigeria against familiar opponents. The Super Eagles faced Guinea-Bissau in the group stage of the 2021 AFCON and also met them in the qualifiers for the 2023 edition. Nigeria defeated Tanzania 2–1 at the 2025 AFCON, while Madagascar were beaten 2–0 in the 2019 group stage.

The qualification series will feature 12 groups, with matches scheduled across six matchdays between September 2026 and March 2027. Winners and runners-up from nine groups will qualify for the tournament, alongside co-hosts Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
