Nigeria, other West African countries’ fight against fake malaria drugs

The World Health Organization states that nearly 700,000  people died from malaria in 2022. 

These numbers are staggering but they represent the reality of many countries in Sub Saharan Africa.

The situation is worsened by the fact that West Africa has acquired a reputation as the hotbed for the sale of counterfeit medicines.

While the Nigerian Food Drug and Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has tried to fight the menace with the use of technology- the production and sale of counterfeit medication has not stopped.
