The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reaffirmed the Inspector-General’s decision to withdraw officers from VIPs in the country.
Shortly after his appointment last month, Olukayode Egbetokun, the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), announced that personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) would no longer carry out VIP escort and guard duties.

In a statement on Monday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, said there is no going back on the IG’s decision.
He said the special committee which had been established to review the policy had submitted its report while a process for the creation of the police quick intervention squad had been activated.
