Northern governors have condemned the brutal murder of 12 travellers in Plateau State, calling for swift and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The victims, part of a 31-member group journeying from Kaduna to Plateau, were ambushed and killed on Friday night in Mangu Local Government Area.
Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the attack as ‘barbaric and inhumane,’ urging authorities to act quickly.

He extended condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Kaduna State, commending security forces for their prompt response.
Governor Yahaya appealed for calm, warning against reprisals, and stressed the importance of unity in the face of provocation.
He reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to improved security collaboration, intelligence sharing, and long-term efforts to address the root causes of violence in the region.
According to him, the actions of a few should not be allowed to derail the collective peace in the region.
