One person has been confirmed dead and several others injured after a truck lost control and crashed into the busy Isheri Market at OPIC Bus Stop along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Wednesday morning. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle suffered a brake failure as it approached the estate gate and veered into the market, destroying stalls and property.
A local tea vendor, who was serving customers at the time, was killed on the spot. A night security guard at the market, who was among the injured, said he narrowly escaped death after being pushed aside by the impact. The number of people injured is yet to be confirmed.

Two parked vehicles—a van and a Toyota Sienna—are believed to have reduced the severity of the crash, absorbing part of the impact and preventing further fatalities. Emergency responders and local authorities are at the scene to clear the wreckage and assess the damage.
The driver of the truck has been arrested and is in custody at the Isheri Tactical Unit as investigations continue.
