The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Executive Committee has affirmed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary, following its 100th NEC meeting held Monday in Abuja.
Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum told reporters the meeting focused solely on clarifying the party’s position to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), confirming that Anyanwu remains in office.

Damagum added that a formal letter, jointly signed by himself and Anyanwu, will be sent to INEC ahead of the party’s next NEC session, scheduled for July 23.
That meeting is expected to conclude key discussions on the PDP’s upcoming national convention.
Damagum described the latest NEC meeting as “successful” and said it had defied predictions of internal strife.
He accused unnamed “detractors” of hoping for discord, but said the party had emerged from the session united and focused.
