Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s approach to fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira, calling it haphazard.
Speaking in an interview monitored by RadioNow’s news desk, Obi said that while he supports both policies, their implementation has not been properly planned or transparent.

He argued that funds saved from the removal of fuel subsidy should have been used to invest in key sectors, but there is little evidence of such progress.
Obi also pointed out that floating the naira without first boosting local production was a mistake, stressing the need for proper planning, national consultation and investment in productivity.
