Authorities in Plateau State have launched an investigation into the suspected poisoning of 36 cows in the Bassa Local Government Area.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on 16 April at Tafi Gana Junction in Zanwar Ward, involved livestock belonging to a herder identified as Samaila Nuhu.
A statement from the Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, confirmed that veterinary experts from the Ministries of Livestock Development and Fisheries have been dispatched to collect samples and ascertain the cause of death.

Local officials from the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association alleged the animals were fed garden eggs laced with an unidentified substance.
While inquiries continue, the state government has called for calm, urging residents to refrain from speculation that could heighten tensions or threaten public order in the area.
