Hausa praise singer, Dauda Adamu Kahutu, known as Rarara, has accused Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, of embarrassing Nigeria on the global stage following his performance at a FIFA World Cup countdown concert.
Davido had worn a jacket bearing the inscription “Bring Them Home” with the names of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State, in reference to the May 15 attack in Oriire Local Government Area, where 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, Rarara described the gesture as inappropriate and alleged that Davido was politicising a sensitive national security issue and projecting a negative image of the country internationally.
He also claimed the singer was using the issue to advance political interests linked to his family, while warning that security matters should be handled with caution and full understanding of the situation on the ground.
