Russian Drone and Missile Barrage Kills 10 People in Kyiv

At least 10 people have been killed in a massive Russian drone and missile assault on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and surrounding areas. The Ukrainian Air Force says it intercepted most of the 352 drones, 11 ballistic missiles and five cruise missiles launched in the overnight attack. Residential buildings, hospitals, and metro station entrances used as bomb shelters were among the sites struck.

Emergency services say the attack, one of the largest in recent weeks, damaged infrastructure in six of Kyiv’s 10 districts. In Shevchenkivskyi, a high-rise entrance was completely destroyed, with people feared trapped under rubble. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said at least 10 others were wounded in the capital.

Additional strikes on Sunday night in Chernihiv killed two and wounded 10, while another person died in Bila Tserkva, southwest of Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims North Korean missiles were used in the Kyiv attack and called Russia, Iran and North Korea a “coalition of murderers.”

Russia’s military later said it had targeted military-industrial sites in the Kyiv region. Both sides deny targeting civilians, but thousands have died since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
