At least 31 Palestinians have been killed and more than 200 wounded near an aid distribution site in southern Gaza, according to Palestinian health officials and eyewitnesses, who accuse Israeli forces of opening fire on civilians.
The incident occurred near the Al-Alam roundabout, roughly 800 metres from a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, GHF, site, where residents had gathered to receive aid. Witnesses say gunfire erupted as crowds assembled.

Israel’s military has denied firing at civilians near or within the site, though a military source confirmed troops fired on individuals approximately one kilometre away, before the aid facility opened.
The International Committee of the Red Cross reported receiving 179 casualties at its field hospital, including women and children. Twenty-one were confirmed dead on arrival.
The GHF, a US-backed aid mechanism, has faced mounting criticism from the UN and aid agencies, who warn it risks escalating instability and putting civilians at greater risk.
