The South East caucus of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning, threatening mass defection if Honourable Sunday Udeh-Okoye is not reinstated as National Secretary. This was disclosed in a communique by Zonal Chairman, Ali Odefa, following a zonal executive meeting at the Enugu State Government House.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who hosted the meeting, emphasised the importance of unity in the zone. Party elders, including the PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and former Imo Governor, Achike Udenwa, also criticised the party for what they described as persistent marginalisation of the region.

The meeting was convened to nominate a candidate to complete the South East’s tenure as National Secretary in line with the PDP National Working Committee’s directive. The caucus expressed frustration at having to repeatedly nominate Udeh-Okoye since October 2023, and called for immediate ratification by the NEC.
Pending the formal ratification, the caucus urged that Architect Setonji Koshoedo should continue in an acting capacity. They warned that continued delays could force the zone to reconsider its long-standing loyalty to the party.
