Former presidential candidate and rights activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised Professor Pat Utomi’s proposal to establish a “shadow government” in Nigeria, describing it as a symbolic gesture with little practical value.
Mr. Sowore questioned the relevance of mimicking parliamentary practices like those in the United Kingdom, arguing that Nigeria’s political context is vastly different.

He challenged the logic of creating a parallel structure in a country where the existing government operates with opacity and minimal accountability.
While Professor Utomi envisions a policy-oriented opposition offering credible alternatives, Mr. Sowore insists that meaningful change will only come through mass mobilisation, civic enlightenment, and active political engagement.
