Terrorists Kill Five People in Fresh Attack on Kwara Border Community

Panic as explosions rock Offa community in Kwara State

Suspected terrorists have attacked a border community in Kwara State, killing at least five people. The attack took place in the early hours of Monday morning in Kemanji, in the Kaiama Local Government Area. Residents say armed gunmen stormed the community at around three o’clock in the morning and engaged security forces, including soldiers and local vigilantes, in a gun battle that lasted approximately two hours.

Community members say four soldiers and one vigilante member were among those killed, though authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming the casualty figures. Residents fled their homes during the attack, taking refuge in nearby bushes and neighbouring communities as gunfire intensified. It remains unclear whether any residents were abducted.

The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Kaiama. Ten days ago, five forest guards, including a commander, were killed by armed bandits in the nearby Nuku community. In February this year, at least 75 people were killed in attacks on communities in the same local government area, prompting Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq to describe the violence as a pure massacre.
