Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known as Terry G, has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding musical legacy and cultural impact in Nigeria.
Posting on social media Wednesday, the ‘Akpako Master’ suggested that his contributions to the evolution of Nigerian pop culture—particularly through the rise of street-hop in the 2010s—remain significant and cannot be overlooked.

His comments come amid renewed scrutiny of influence and originality in the industry, fuelled by a simmering rap feud between artists Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez.
Terry G, known for his flamboyant style and energetic sound, was at the forefront of a street-inspired movement that blurred the lines between underground and mainstream music.
Though less visible in recent years, he maintains that his role in shaping the identity of Nigerian music deserves recognition in any discussion about its cultural trajectory.
