Israel has sealed off crossings into northern Gaza, cutting vital access for humanitarian aid as famine looms for hundreds of thousands. The closures, announced Thursday, follow intensified airstrikes and shelling that have killed dozens more in the besieged territory.
The latest move is expected to heighten diplomatic scrutiny, as focus returns to Gaza’s worsening crisis following Israel’s brief military confrontation with Iran.

According to Palestinian officials, over 800 people were killed in Gaza during that 12-day period—many while scrambling for food or caught in fresh bombardments.
Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, on Thursday described the situation as “genocide”—the strongest language yet from a European leader. He cited an EU report flagging Israel’s alleged breaches of human rights, including aid blockades, civilian deaths, and attacks on journalists.
Israel has dismissed such claims, calling them biased and rooted in antisemitism.
