Three Security Operatives Killed In Attack On Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command says three security operatives have been killed during an attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, in Kuru.

Police spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 16 June 2026. He said security personnel on duty at the facility were targeted, but did not give details of the identities of those killed.

The command said reinforcements were deployed to the area following the attack and patrols have been intensified on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah. It added that investigations have commenced and assured residents that the situation is under control.

The NIPSS said in an earlier statement that a “security incident” occurred near the institute, adding that normal activities have continued and that it is working with security agencies as enquiries proceed.
