The United Nations human rights office in the occupied Palestinian territories has expressed concern over Israel’s decision to resume land registration in Area C of the occupied West Bank.
Suspended since 1968, the process is now set to resume following approval by Israel’s security cabinet. UN officials say the move appears aimed at formalising land ownership in favour of Israeli settlers, raising fears of further displacement of Palestinians.

The UN warned that such registration could pave the way for increased expropriation of Palestinian land and resources, undermining property rights and other basic entitlements including housing, food, and shelter.
It described the development as part of a wider strategy by Israel to consolidate its control over the West Bank—territory regarded under international law as illegally occupied.
