US Ambassador calls West Bank settler siege of Palestinian homes “act of terror”

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has condemned a days-long siege of Palestinian homes in the West Bank village of Qusra as a “horrific act of terror,” in an unusually sharp rebuke from the Trump administration.

Since Sunday, Israeli settlers, at times numbering dozens, have surrounded three homes near Nablus, including one belonging to Palestinian-American Loui Ridi, throwing stones and blocking residents from leaving as food and water ran low.

Israeli troops have intervened, moving one family to another home, though they remain unable to leave freely. The Israeli military says it has dismantled two nearby illegal outposts and detained one Israeli.

The incident comes amid a broader surge in settler violence that Palestinians and Israeli opposition figures accuse Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of tolerating.
