Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed the country’s ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, as part of a broader reshuffle of senior government and diplomatic officials. A presidential decree published on Monday confirmed her removal after nearly a year in the post.
Stefanishyna said she chose to step down for personal reasons and cited her efforts to strengthen U.S. military support for Ukraine during a challenging political period in Washington. Her departure follows recent changes to Ukraine’s prime minister and defence minister, with further diplomatic appointments expected in the coming weeks.
The ambassador’s role remains critical as Kyiv continues to seek military assistance, including additional Patriot air defence systems, while pursuing diplomatic efforts to end the war with Russia. The presidency has not yet announced her successor.
