The Federal Government has approved 46 billion naira for the resurfacing and reconstruction of the second runway at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.
Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus Keyamo announced the approval while commissioning the airport’s newly remodelled Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal. Keyamo said about 60 per cent of the contract sum had already been released and the contractor had mobilised to site. He described the project as part of efforts to upgrade Kano Airport and strengthen its position as a major aviation and commercial gateway for Northern Nigeria.
The minister also said work had begun on upgrading the airport’s Hajj Terminal. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria says the terminal upgrade is expected to improve passenger comfort, safety and operational efficiency at the airport.
