Israel Withdraws from Netzarim Corridor in Gaza

Israel has completed its withdrawal from the Netzarim Corridor, a militarized zone bisecting Gaza, fulfilling a key commitment under its ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

Hamas confirmed the pullout in a statement, stating that Israeli forces had fully vacated the six-kilometer strip, which stretches from the Israel-Gaza border to the Mediterranean and had served as a strategic divide between northern and southern Gaza.

The corridor, named after the former Israeli settlement of Netzarim, was established by the Israeli military to create a central route through the enclave.

Following the withdrawal, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have traversed the area, many returning to the devastated north in cars, on foot, or even by donkey. However, passage remains difficult, with travelers still required to navigate a checkpoint amid widespread destruction from 15 months of Israeli bombardment.
