Egypt has put forward a plan for the governance of Gaza that would exclude Hamas from power once the conflict ends.
The proposal, discussed at an emergency summit in Cairo on Tuesday, was presented by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. It suggests the formation of a temporary Palestinian committee to take over administration of the enclave before eventually transferring authority to the Palestinian Authority, PA.

President al-Sisi indicated that the committee would oversee relief efforts and manage Gaza’s affairs for a transitional period. The plan, which envisions an initial six-month interim rule under the broader framework of the PA, stipulates that members of the governing body would not be affiliated with any Palestinian factions.
Egypt is expected to present the proposal to US President Donald Trump in the coming weeks.
