Israeli forces will remain in buffer zones inside Gaza even after any ceasefire, according to Defence Minister Israel Katz. His remarks come as efforts to revive a truce falter.

The Israeli military claims it now controls 30% of Gaza.
The renewed campaign, which followed a two-month lull, has displaced more than 400,000 people, the UN humanitarian agency OCHA reports.
At least 1,630 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes and bombardments since March 18.
Critics warn that the buffer zones could become a permanent feature, further fragmenting Gaza and complicating future peace efforts.
