The Transmission Company of Nigeria says it has fully restored bulk electricity supply to the north-east following the successful completion of works on the 330/132 kV Bauchi transmission substation. The blackout, which began on 11 June, was part of a planned five-day outage to allow for construction work on the Jos-Bauchi-Gombe transmission line.
In a statement on Sunday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah confirmed that the substation has now been energised and reconnected to the national grid. Supply to the region resumed at about 4:45pm on 19 June, marking the end of the power interruption.

The transmission upgrade restores electricity to Jos and Yola Distribution Companies, which serve millions of customers in Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Adamawa, and Taraba states. TCN says the new Bauchi substation is one of the largest in the region.
The company says the project has enhanced power reliability, created additional transmission routes, and improved emergency response in the north-east. TCN also thanked residents and businesses for their patience during the outage.
