US Lawmaker Accuses Nigeria of Failing to Justify Billions in Military Aid

A United States lawmaker, Riley Moore, has accused the Nigerian government of failing to account for billions of dollars in US military assistance, alleging ongoing killings of Christians across the country. Speaking on a US podcast, US Representative Moore, who chairs a Trump-appointed investigative committee on Christian persecution, described the situation as a forgotten genocide.

He criticised what he called Abuja’s ‘lack of urgency’ in protecting Christian communities despite years of US training and equipment support, warning that the violence could spiral if not addressed jointly by both nations.

Former US President Donald Trump also renewed his criticism, describing Nigeria as facing what he labelled as ‘an existential threat’ to Christianity. He warned that Washington “cannot stand by” if the killings persist — a stance the Nigerian government rejects, insisting the violence affects all faiths equally.
