Five foreign nationals from Burkina Faso have been abducted by bandits at a gold mining site near Arafa village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The attack happened at about 11:15 in the morning on the 14th of March, when a large group of armed men stormed the site and took the workers to an unknown location. The incident was reported by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.

The assailants, who were said to have been hiding between Arafa and Gidan Dankande villages, fled into nearby bushland before security personnel from an Operation Fasan Yanma base arrived at the scene.
