Real Madrid kept their La Liga title hopes alive with a narrow 2-1 victory over Alaves on Tuesday, a result that reduces the gap on leaders Barcelona to six points. Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring midway through the first half with a deflected effort, marking his first league goal since early February.
Vinicius Junior added a second goal early in the second half with a powerful strike from distance, giving Madrid control of the match. Alaves pushed back late in the game and managed a stoppage-time goal through Toni Martinez, but it was not enough to deny the hosts all three points.
The win ended a two-match winless run for Real Madrid in the league and restored momentum as they continue their pursuit of Barcelona, who are set to face Celta Vigo. The result also underlined the importance of their attacking stars in a tightly contested title race.
