United States President Donald Trump has ordered the Navy to “shoot and kill” any Iranian boats laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The directive was announced on Thursday amid rising tensions despite an ongoing ceasefire.
Trump said US forces are intensifying efforts to clear explosives from the strategic waterway, which is a key route for global oil shipments. The Pentagon also confirmed the interception of a tanker carrying Iranian oil in the Indian Ocean.
The Strait of Hormuz has become a flashpoint in the conflict, with Iran previously restricting access in response to US and Israeli military actions. About 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes through the route.

Iran has warned it will respond to any attack, while both sides continue to enforce maritime restrictions. The situation has raised concerns about global energy supplies and the stability of the ceasefire.
