The Nigerian Army says troops under Operation UDO KA have arrested a suspected gunrunner and carried out raids on criminal hideouts in the South-east. The operations took place in Abia and Imo states, according to an operational report released on Tuesday.
The army said the suspect was apprehended in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia in collaboration with other security agencies. Preliminary findings indicate he was involved in transporting weapons from Bayelsa State to criminal groups, with efforts ongoing to recover the arms and track other members of the network.
In a separate incident, troops were ambushed while assessing a burnt vehicle along the SPDC–Etekuru road in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo. Security forces later recovered two burnt vehicles and two bodies from the scene.
