The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has cleared 33 aspirants and disqualified 65 others ahead of the party primaries for the state house of assembly election.
The APC screening committee, chaired by Muraina Ajibola, said the affected aspirants failed to meet requirements for the exercise. The committee cited reasons including attempted bribery, failure to present voter cards or party membership documents, conflicting dates of birth, and irregularities in affidavits and nomination records.
A total of 98 aspirants purchased nomination forms to contest the 32 assembly seats. The committee said all aspirants appeared before it with original credentials and were questioned on their qualifications, political experience and party membership.
