Strait of Hormuz open to friendly nations, closed to enemies says Iran

Iran says the Strait of Hormuz remains open to shipping from friendly countries but restricted to what it describes as its enemies.

The country’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, made the remarks on Friday on the sidelines of a BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, stating that the strategic waterway is not closed.

Araghchi said restrictions imposed by Iran’s navy could be lifted if the war involving the United States and Israel ends, adding that safe passage would be guaranteed for all ships under such conditions.
