Troops Uncover IPOB Arms Cache In Enugu, Arrest Suspects

The Nigerian Army says its troops have uncovered a clandestine arms hideout belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Garri Area of Enugu State, in south-east Nigeria.

Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, spokesperson of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, said in a statement on Wednesday that the operation was carried out on Tuesday by troops in collaboration with personnel of the State Security Service.

He said the hideout was discovered inside a zinc structure disguised as a piggery, where a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered, including General Purpose Machine Guns, an RPG-7 launcher tube, AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, tear gas guns with cartridges, and AK-47 magazines, as well as hundreds of rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
