Davido advocates for release of kidnapped Oyo pupils at World Cup concert

Afrobeats star Davido has called for the release of 46 people kidnapped in Oyo State during a performance at the opening concert of the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown series in Los Angeles.

The concert, held at the Crypto.com Arena, marked the start of a live global music series across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with Davido performing alongside international acts including Major Lazer.

During the performance, Davido wore a black jacket fitted with 46 green lapels bearing the names of 39 pupils and 7 teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on 15 May.
