The United States carried out a sixth consecutive night of strikes on Iran Thursday, hitting civilian infrastructure across the country’s south, as Tehran warned the war “will spread.”
U.S. Central Command said the strikes, beginning around 9:30 pm local time, targeted Iranian military capabilities used to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media reported explosions and power outages in Bandar Abbas, where a railway station and airport were hit, alongside strikes on two bridges near Bandar-e Khamir and Qeshm Island. Iranian officials reported at least seven casualties.
The White House said Iran would not be allowed to fire on ships in the strait, with CENTCOM insisting Hormuz remains “free and open” except to vessels violating its blockade. Iran said the Strait will not return to pre-war conditions. Separately, a U.S.-Iran dual citizen held under an exit ban since 2024 was confirmed to have safely left Iran.
