A senior ISWAP finance operative surrendered to Nigerian troops in Borno State on Friday, alongside two of his male children, in what the military calls another major breakthrough against the insurgency.
Operation HADIN KAI spokesperson Mohammed Goni said the terrorist surrendered to 3 Battalion troops around 6:45 am on July 25, along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis of the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route. Preliminary profiling identified him as the chief finance operative for ISWAP’s Jubillaram enclave, managing the group’s finances and logistics.
Troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, and ₦40,000 from him. He is undergoing interrogation for actionable intelligence.
Goni said the surrender is part of a growing wave of surrenders, with roughly 46 terrorists and family members turning themselves in in recent days amid sustained military offensives across the North-East.
