Akwa Ibom Governor Raises Corps Members’ Allowance by 300%

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced a significant increase in monthly allowances for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state—from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000—effective 1st August 2025.

The announcement was made during the State Delivery Meeting at Government House, Uyo. The governor cited rising socio-economic pressures as justification for the decision, noting that it complements the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly stipend for corps members.

With over 10,000 youth corps members posted to the state annually, Governor Eno emphasised the importance of sustained support. He also recalled the NYSC’s founding aim of fostering national unity since its establishment in 1973.

The state has also approved the full reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Nsit Atai, further underlining its commitment to youth welfare.
