At least 30 people have been killed in attacks in central Mali carried out by suspected al-Qaeda-linked fighters, according to local and security sources.
The assaults reportedly targeted the villages of Korikori and Gomossogou in the Mopti region on Wednesday, with some reports putting the death toll as high as 50.
The attacks are part of a renewed wave of violence involving armed groups, including Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin and allied factions, which have intensified operations in recent weeks.

Malian military officials say the army is working to contain the threat and has disrupted several militant movements, though insecurity continues across parts of the country.
